Meal-prep container allergy labels work in a shared fridge when the warning is on the lid and the safe box is marked separately. Put a 1.5″ Food Allergy Label on containers that are unsafe for one person, and an Allergy Safe Mark only on food that person can eat. TagMyAllergy vinyl sheets are water-resistant; a 4-sticker wheat sheet is $5.99. They are a visual reminder, not a medical device.
Where each sticker goes
| Place | Use this sticker | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Lid of a container that contains the allergen | Food Allergy Label | Seen before the lid comes off |
| Side of the same container | Food Allergy Label | Still marked if lids get swapped |
| Container packed only with safe food | Allergy Safe Mark | Stops someone grabbing the wrong box in a hurry |
| Family leftovers that mix both | Food Allergy Label, not Safe Mark | If it is not safe, do not mark it safe |
| Dishwasher rack | Remove loose sheets first | A reminder that has peeled off helps no one |
Five rules that keep the label useful
- Label the container, not the shelf. Food moves.
- One meaning per mark: allergen warning or safe-to-grab, never both on the same lid.
- Dry the lid before you apply. Fridge condensation is why labels curl.
- Re-check the mark when you refill the box. Monday’s rice is not Tuesday’s pasta.
- These marks do not list ingredients and do not replace reading a package label.
Most home fridges need both types: Food Allergy Labels for unsafe boxes, Allergy Safe Marks for the safe ones.

This is a visual reminder, not a medical device. It does not replace allergy management, emergency planning, or medical advice. Always follow your healthcare provider’s guidance and any allergy safety plan you have in place.
